The maximum dimensions of any single piece of checked baggage should not be over 158cm/62" (L+W+H) respectively. 

* Overweight items (Exception: mobility aids, medical equipment, sporting equipment) will be repacked or split into lighter units during check-in otherwise will not be accepted for carriage.

^ Infant refers to a passenger under 2 years old who does not occupy a seat.

Partly Business class and partly Economy class travel

For through journeys where the passenger travels partly on business class and partly on economy class, the free baggage allowance for each portion of travel shall be granted according to each purchased ticket class.

Where a passenger who has paid the business class fare travels on Economy class, the free baggage allowance shall be given based on that for the Business class service respectively.
 

Extra Baggage Charges

# only one charge will apply if checked baggage is overweight and oversize

Remarks: We limit the checked bags to 4 pieces and 7 pieces on Economy Class and Business Class respectively. Our Airport Managers have the discretion on acceptance of checked bags over the limit.

 

Through checked baggage
 

If you have a connecting flight with another airline, you maybe able to request check-in directly through to your final destination airport if Hong Kong Airlines / Hong Kong Express Airways has an interline agreement with the other airline. Your flights must also be on the same ticket, or are issued in conjunction with each other. You may check with the airlines of your different sectors for more details.

For each break international journey with Hainan Airlines, please apply their excess baggage rules. For excess baggage charge, please contact the respective airlines.

Sporting Equipment
1 Free Bag Allowance  for Sporting Equipment** not exceeding 10kg. If weight of bag exceeds 10kg, we charge 1 piece of extra baggage charge.

2 One free baggage allowance for non-motorized bicycle not exceeding 25kg to destinations in Taiwan operated by Hong Kong Airlines and Hong Kong Express Airways only. If the weight of the bicycle exceeds 25kg, Hong Kong Airlines shall charge for one piece of excess baggage according to the applicable standard excess baggage charges. The free baggage allowance for bicycles to Taiwan is conditional and subject to Hong Kong Airlines’ final decision, and is valid until 31 December, 2012. Other terms and conditions apply.

Sporting equipment is subject to the applicable standard excess baggage charges if in excess of your standard free baggage allowance. (ie, 1st extra bag charge HKD500/peice; 2nd to 4th extra bags charge HKD1000/piece)

** Sporting Equipment includes (1) Non-motorised bicycle (2) Diving Equipment (3) Golf Equipment (4) Ski & Snowboard (5) Surfboard with maximum dimension at 277cm/109”.

Pets
No pet or animal of any description will be permitted in our passenger cabin. Pets such as dogs, cats and birds will be crated and transported in freighter services only. Please contact our Cargo Department for details.

Mobility Aids
Mobility Aids like wheelchair that are carried by the passenger can be accepted without charge as in addition to the baggage allowance.
