FAQ FOR SMS NOTIFICATION

  • The SMS (text message) notification service is free to Fortune Wings Club Members as well as Non-Members taking flights operated by Hong Kong Airlines. Currently, SMS notification service is available in more than 60 countries and regions.

  • We automatically notify all passengers if their Hong Kong Airlines flight is delayed, cancelled or rescheduled regardless of whether they have subscribed to receive text messages. As a special reminder, passengers who have agreed to receive flight reminder message when making a reservation, will be notified when online check-in opens 24 hours before flight departure. Please be sure to update your mobile phone number and enter the correct country code and email address to receive flight reminder messages and online check-in reminder.

  • You will be notified if your flight is delayed by more than 30 minutes, cancelled or rescheduled. For flight cancellations and flight changes, we will also notify you of updated flight information once it has been confirmed.

  • SMS notification is available for flights operated by Hong Kong Airlines except code-sharing flights operated by other airlines.

  • Currently, text messages (SMS) are available in four languages (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English and Japanese*). Usually, the language of SMS is exactly the same as your preferred display language when making a reservation via our website or App. For passengers who selected Japanese as their preferred language, we will automatically send you English pre-flight messages and flight alerts.

    *Pre-flight check-in reminder is now available in Japanese.

  • Some mobile phones and mobile operators do not support Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese language that causes some messages being displayed incorrectly. In this case, we advise you to change the display language to English as default language and resend text message. For all text messages sent to Korea will contain [Web] in the first sentence.

  • No. Currently, we are unable to send the Pre-flight check-in reminder for reservations made less than 24 hours of scheduled departure time. However, you can still receive the flight alert messages if your flight is delayed by more than 30 minutes, cancelled or rescheduled. For flight cancellations and flight changes, we will also notify you of updated flight information once it has been confirmed.

  • No. However, if you cancel your reservations within 4 to 24 hours before departure time, you will still receive Pre-flight check-in reminder and Flight alert messages.
