Remark:
Eligible spending includes the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges paid for the ticket, such as fuel surcharges. Government-imposed taxes and fees, such as transportation tax, and carrier-imposed fees for other products or services will not be eligible for points earning, which includes, but is not limited to: ticket rebooking fees, excess baggage fees, seat selection payments, upgrade payments, in-flight food and beverage purchases, and service charges etc.
Eligible spending is calculated in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) for awarding points. If a ticket is purchased in a different currency, the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges will be converted to HKD based on the IATA accounting rate.
Eligible spending is rounded to the nearest 10 HKD when calculating award points. Therefore, any eligible spend less than 10 HKD will be rounded up to 10 HKD.
Business Class redemption tickets (Z class) are not eligible for points and segments accrual.
The above accumulation standards are for reference only, subject to the actual points and segments credited.
Status Qualifying Points (SQPs) accumulation is based on kilometers, using the actual flight distance published by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). For segments over 500 kilometers, K is the flight distance; for segments under 500 kilometers, K is calculated as 500 kilometers.
Children’s ticket accumulation rules: For child discount tickets purchased at 75% of the adult fare, tier points are accumulated at 75% of the corresponding adult standard.
FAQ
Starting from July 1, 2025 (Hong Kong time), Hong Kong Airlines will adjust the accumulation and redemption standards. The adjustments are as follows:
Flight points accumulation standards, including adult and child tickets.
Classic Award ticket redemption standards.
Award Upgrade redemption standards.
The new points accumulation will apply to sales from July 1, 2025 (Hong Kong time); the Classic Award ticket redemption rules, Award Upgrade redemption rules, and points upgrade voucher rules will apply from July 1, 2025 (inclusive).
Applicable to flights with the flight number "HX", operated by Hong Kong Airlines and Fortune Wings Club member airlines. Charter flights and codeshare routes are excluded.
Points accumulation is based on the ticket price (settled in HKD) and fuel surcharges, excluding any taxes or additional service fees. For every HK$10 spent, 10 FWC points will be earned. Different membership levels may earn additional points. Please refer to the attached table for specific accumulation standards.
The eligible consumption amount for Hong Kong Airlines flights is priced in HKD. If a member purchases a ticket in another currency, it will be converted to HKD based on the exchange rate published by the IATA on the ticket sales date. The eligible consumption amount for Hong Kong Airlines flights is calculated in units of HK$10, with any amount less than HK$10 rounded up to the nearest HK$10 for points calculation.
Not all tickets accumulate points under the fare-based standard. Some special tickets will still accumulate Award points based on the passenger's travel class and distance. The distance-based accumulation applies to the following types of tickets:
Tickets where the price is not indicated on the ticket.
Some special airline product tickets; passengers can inquire about the ticket points rules from the agent where the product was purchased.
Tickets for which accurate price information cannot be obtained, such as tickets not issued by Hong Kong Airlines, tickets transferred from other airlines to Hong Kong Airlines, etc. The basic Award points accumulated by distance are consistent with the Status points accumulation standards. Status Award Points are awarded as a percentage of the basic Award points: Platinum and Gold cards receive an additional 50%, Silver cards an additional 25%. Note: If the product class accumulation rules conflict with this document, the product document prevails.
No. Tickets issued before July 1, 2025, will still accumulate and redeem points under the old rules.
When a child ticket is purchased at 75% of the adult fare, both Status points and Award points are accumulated at 75% of the adult standard.
Tickets with class codes I/R/G/O/E/A/F do not accumulate points.
Hong Kong Airlines, headquartered in Hong Kong, uses HKD as its primary settlement currency, in line with local market practices. Other Fortune Wings Club airlines (such as Hainan Airlines), headquartered in mainland China, use CNY. This arrangement aims to facilitate points accumulation and redemption for members in different regions.
No. The value of points accumulation has been adjusted according to the exchange rate, ensuring that members receive fair points rewards whether settled in HKD or CNY. Please refer to the relevant rules for specific accumulation standards.
The system automatically converts consumption amounts in different currencies to a uniform standard for points accumulation. For example, HKD consumption on Hong Kong Airlines will be converted to the equivalent CNY based on the exchange rate, then calculated according to the Fortune Wings Club points accumulation rules. Members do not need to manually handle currency differences; the system will do it automatically.
The points accumulation standards for Virgin Australia remain unchanged and are still based on distance.
For tickets involuntarily transferred to Hong Kong Airlines, members must apply for supplementary points registration, which will be accumulated based on the distance-based rules.
Tickets with unobtainable price information will accumulate points based on the distance-based rules.
For the points accumulation rules of special airline product tickets, passengers can inquire with the agent from which the product was purchased.
Status Award Points are awarded as a percentage of the base consumption points: Platinum and Gold cards receive an additional 50%, Silver cards an additional 25%.
For tickets transferred from airlines outside the group to Hong Kong Airlines, members must apply for supplementary points registration, which will be accumulated based on the distance-based rules.
Members can log in to the Hong Kong Airlines official website or contact customer service to check the detailed points accumulation and redemption standards.
