  • Advance Upgrade offers you the best deal to upgrade to our Business Class in advance.

    1. If you have agreed to receive Hong Kong Airlines promotional materials while booking on our official website, you may receive an Advance Upgrade invitation email 14 days prior to your scheduled departure. Otherwise, click here to check if your ticket is eligible for an upgrade.
    2. In the email, you will be able to check which flight sector is eligible for Advance Upgrade.
    3. A confirmation email will be sent once the payment is done. Otherwise, please contact Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Centre.
  • You will enjoy our full Business Class experience (applies to the upgraded flight sector) as listed above. 

  • Advance Upgrade is non-refundable and non-transferable. However, rebooking fee (subject to your original Economy fare class) will apply if you wish to change your successful Advance Upgrade. Paid Advance Upgrade fee cannot be refunded.

  • Applicable Advance Upgrade routes, fare classes, available seats and other factors are subject to Hong Kong Airlines’ discretion. You are advised to check if you are eligible for the Advance Upgrade here.

  • No. To ensure more passengers can enjoy our Advance Upgrade deal; we can only allow one passenger at one booking. Kindly be reminded that the booking of the Advance Upgraded passenger will be separated from the original one if there are multiple passengers in the same booking. Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Centre will try our best to accommodate your needs should you have any special request.

    1. No more Business Class seats are available; or
    2. Flight(s) is scheduled to depart within 24 hours; or
    3. Flight(s) departure time is changed due to operational reasons.

  • Advance Upgrade is currently available for flights between Hong Kong and selected destinations in Japan (Tokyo Narita, Okinawa, Osaka, Sapporo), Taipei, Seoul, Manila, Denpasar, Malé and Bangkok.

  • No. To ensure the safety of your infant (below 2 years of age) or child (2 to 12 years of age), we will not upgrade passenger who travels with juniors aged at or under 12, whom must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age in the same cabin at all times. 

  • No. FWC points are only for redemption of seats.

  • For the upgraded sector, passenger will be entitled to the Business Class baggage allowance.

  • It is subject to seat availability and depends on the scheduled departure time. You may choose your seat by completing online check-in service.

  • The fare rules of the original booking apply to your upgraded sector. If you wish to rebook, refund or cancel your booking, it will be proceeded according to the fare rules of original booking.

  • We will try our best to accommodate your special request made in the original booking. You may also contact Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Centre to ensure the request has been recorded.

  • Yes, you can cancel your Advance Upgrade anytime. However, Advance Upgrade fee will not be refunded in general circumstances. Please be reminded that your original booking will also be cancelled.

  • No. The Advance Upgrade fee is the same even though their original entitled checked baggage allowances are different.

  • Yes. Once your upgrade is confirmed, we will refund the fees of extra legroom or Preferred Seat (if any).

  • No. Prepaid Excess Baggage is non-refundable, but you can have the excess baggage allowance together with Business Class baggage allowance.

  • No. Lounge voucher is non-refundable.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. This Advance Upgrade (“Upgrade”) is subject to these Terms and Conditions. By paying for an upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class air ticket, you shall be deemed to have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.
  2. The sales period of the Upgrade is from 18 November 2019 until further notice (Hong Kong time).
  3. The Upgrade is only available for passenger who has already purchased one-way and/or round trip Economy Classtickets for flights between Hong Kong and selected destinations via Hong Kong Airlines’ official website.  The Upgrade is not available during the booking process on Hong Kong Airlines’ official website.
  4. The travel period of Upgrade is available for travel period from 18 November 2019 until further notice (Hong Kong time).
  5. The price of the Upgrade is based on the selected destinationsand individual sectors at the time of purchase and subject to currency fluctuation. 
  6. The Upgrade can be purchased via our invitation email and/or Hong Kong Airlines’ official website.  
  7. Passenger may check his/her eligibility by entering the booking reference via Hong Kong Airlines’ official website.
  8. The Upgrade is only applicable for ONE passenger per booking. In the event that the booking contains twoor more passengers, each Upgrade price can only be applied to one of the passengers and his/her original booking will be cancelled.
  9. The Upgrade is only available for flights marketed and operated by Hong Kong Airlines (HX) only. Not available for special flights, chartered flights or codeshare flights.
  10. The Upgrade purchased is valid on selected flights and dates. No-show fee, re-booking fee, re-routing fee and refund fee are subject to original ticket fare rules (i.e. Economy Class) as applicable to each origin/destination. Hong Kong Airlines shall refund the fees of Extra Legroom Seat, Economy Comfort Seat or Preferred Seat (if applicable) to the passenger when the Upgrade has been completed. Other value-added product such as lounge voucher, excess baggage shall not be refunded under general circumstances. It will take approximately 6-8 weeks to complete the refund process.   11. Upgraded sector is non-reroutable, non-refundable and non-transferable. The price of the Upgrade will not be refunded. In the event of re-booking, no-show and cancellation by the passenger, the upgraded sector will not be refunded.
  12. The Upgrade must be purchased at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time.
  13. The Upgrade is subject to availability and is offered on a first-come first-served basis. The seat availability is also subject to aircraft type.
  14. The Upgrade is not applicable to the following types of passengers:-
    1. Passenger who is travelling with a child (aged 2 or below 12) and/or infant (aged below 2);
    2. Tickets are not purchased via Hong Kong Airlines’ official website
    3. Unaccompanied minor (i.e. children aged from 6 to 12);
    4. Passenger using the redemption air ticket; and
    5. Passenger purchased the air ticket together with travel insurance on Hong Kong Airlines’ official website.
  15. Hong Kong Airlines will not be liable for any matter or loss in relation to any error or omission due to technical problems including but not limited to any computer or internet network issues.

  17. Booking is not completed or accepted by Hong Kong Airlines until payment has been received and a booking reference has been issued.
  18. Passengers are advised to check the latest Outbound Travel Alert issued by Hong Kong Government before planning their trip.
  19. Fortune Wing Club (FWC) members are eligible for FWC points accrual of the original ticket.  Points credit will be based on original booking class (i.e. Economy Class) and is subject to FWC’s terms and conditions which is available here.

  21. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall confer any third party rights or benefits.
  22. The Upgrade with the seat is subject to the General Conditions of Carriage published by Hong Kong Airlines (subject to change from time to time) and is available on Hong Kong Airlines’ website.
  23. Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
  24. If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English and Chinese versions of the Terms and Conditions, the English version shall prevail.
  25. In the event of any dispute regarding any of the Terms and Conditions, the decision of Hong Kong Airlines shall be final.
  26. The Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
