Officer, Flight Dispatch
(HKA/COM/0315_FDO)     Department:  Flight Operations    Time:  2018-03-15

Responsibilities

  • Perform dispatching services and oversight duties related to pre-flight preparation, flight planning, crew briefing and post-flight de-briefing
  • Ensure optimum completion of the company’s daily flights including maintaining aircraft on, or as close as possible to, their published schedule while minimizing the effects of any irregularities in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure that a continuously up to date and accurate weather picture is available
  • Monitor the serviceability of company aircraft
  • Monitor the availability of essential en-route and terminal facilities, in relation to the routes being used
  • Initiate, without delay, such remedial action as may be necessary to safeguard the regularity of current and planned operations
  • Cancel or re-dispatch a flight if, in their opinion or the opinion of the Aircraft
  • Commander, the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned or released
  • Managing all operational aspects of the flight schedule
  • Initiate and co-ordinate the necessary remedial actions in case of a strike, political unrest or other external events that could adversely impact the Company’s planned operations,
  • Creating and supervising ad-hoc flying e.g. charter, positioning, ferry, air-tests etc.
  • Proactively monitoring the operation of all company flying by effective fleet watch
  • Providing, communicating and distributing pertinent operational messages between aircraft and service partners, as necessary
  • Ensuring proactive, timely and on-going close operational coordination with all service partners responsible for dispatching the Company flight schedule
  • Providing essential information to crew in the most appropriate manner and
  • Conduct relevant trainings and checks to other team members 

 

Requirements

  • 2 years previous experience as a Flight Planning Officer
  • Familiar with using flight planning programme (e.g. JEPPESEN JetPlanner)
  • Previous experience in operational control/ flight dispatch, or have acted as a flight crew, navigator, meteorologist, air traffic controller or radio operator
  • Fluently read, write and understand English; and
  • Previous experience with ICAO and/or HKCAD regulations desirable
