Some extra legroom seats are located next to the emergency exit doors, and are subject to flight safety guidelines of the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong. Extra legroom seats will only be assigned if passenger can meet the following safety requirements, and will not obstruct emergency exits in a way of impeding the crew in their duties, obstructing access to emergency equipment, or hindering aircraft evacuation.

In compliance with the flight safety guidelines of the civil aviation authority, passengers with assigned extra legroom seat must meet the following conditions:

1. Be at least 18 years of age on the date of the flight;
2. Not pregnant or seated with an infant;
3. Not under the influence of alcohol, drugs and intoxicating substance;
4. Does not require a seat belt extender;
5. Able to understand and follow the safety instructions;
6. Not a passenger with reduced mobility, including passengers who require wheelchair assistance or postural support equipment (PSE), and the use of a medical oxygen tank or Portable Electronic Devices (PED).

If a passenger does not meet the above safety requirements at the time of check-in, boarding or during the flight, Hong Kong Airlines may re-assign another seat with no refund.

Extra Legroom Seats are non-transferrable and non-refundable, with the following exceptions apply:

1. The flight is disrupted;
2. The flight is cancelled by Hong Kong Airlines;
3. The flight is missed because of the re-routing of an inbound or outbound flight operated by Hong Kong Airlines;
4. No extra legroom Seat available on new flight when Hong Kong Airlines change aircraft type due to operational reasons.

Passenger shall contact our customer center for submitting a refund request within 90 days prior to departure. Refund will be made in the same form of payment used while booking. The refunded amount will be subject to the exchange rate fluctuation. Such refund shall be treated in full and final settlement. Complimentary upgrade is not eligible for a refund.

1. Preferred Seat (“Seat”) is subject to these Terms and Conditions. By purchasing the Seat, you shall be deemed to have read, understood and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.
2. The Seat is only available for purchase via Hong Kong Airlines official website and its Customer Service Hotline.
3. The Seat is only available for one-way and/or round-trip selected Economy Class tickets for flights marketed and operated by Hong Kong Airlines only. Not available for special flights or code-share flights.
4. The price of the Seat is based on individual sector for each passenger and subject to currency fluctuation.
5. The price of the Seat is non-refundable and non-transferable.
6. Purchase is not completed or accepted by Hong Kong Airlines until payment has been received.
7. Purchase of the Seat is not applicable for FWC points accrual.
8. Passengers may select and purchase the Seat without any charge if they purchase the air ticket(s):
   1. with Flexifly;
   2. by holding Fortune Wings Club Platinum cards and such booking with the same passenger name record includes their travel companion(s) in a maximum of 2.
9. The Seat is subject to availability and offered on a first-come first-served basis. The Seat availability is also subject to aircraft type.
10. The Seat is not applicable to unaccompanied minor (i.e. children aged 6 or above and below 12 who travel alone) and redemption ticket. The Seat is not available for infant tickets.
11. Hong Kong Airlines will not be liable for any matter or loss in relation to any error or omission due to technical problems including but not limited to any computer or internet network issues.
12. In the event of the circumstances as set out in Article 9.2.2 of our General Conditions of Carriage, passengers shall submit refund applications to our Customer Service Hotline within 90 days from the date of scheduled departure time.
13. Passengers are advised to check with the latest Outbound Travel Alert before planning their trip.
14. Nothing in the Terms and Conditions shall confer any third party rights or benefits.
15. The Seat/air ticket with the Seat is subject to the General Conditions of Carriage published by Hong Kong Airlines (subject to change from time to time) and is available on Hong Kong Airlines’ website.
16. Hong Kong Airlines reserve the right to amend the Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.
17. In the event of any dispute regarding any of the Terms and Conditions, the decision of Hong Kong Airlines shall be final.
18. If there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the English and Chinese versions of the Terms and Conditions, the English version shall prevail.
19. The Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

2. Extra Legroom Seat is only available for purchase by the passenger when he/she has already purchased one way and/or round trip economy class tickets via Hong Kong Airlines’ official website, mobile application or Customer Service Hotline.
3. The price of the Extra Legroom Seat is based on individual sector and subject to currency fluctuation. Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to adjust the price without any prior notice.
4. Extra Legroom Seat is subject to seat availability and aircraft type, and offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
5. The purchase of Extra Legroom Seat must be made 90 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Passenger may purchase Extra Legroom Seat at Hong Kong Airlines’ local airport check in counter.
6. Extra Legroom Seat is only available for flights marketed and operated by Hong Kong Airlines (HX) and not available on special flights, chartered flights, interline flights or codeshare flights.
7. The price of the Extra Legroom Seat is non-refundable for passenger’s no-show and voluntary cancellation of the ticket by passenger.
8. Extra Legroom Seat is non-transferable and must be used in accordance with the sector(s) which originally purchased for.
9. Hong Kong Airlines will not refund the price of the Extra Legroom Seat in the event that passenger does not meet the safety requirements (see above) at the time of check-in, boarding or during the flight.
10. Purchase is not completed or accepted by Hong Kong Airlines until payment has been received and a confirmation email has been sent.
11. Extra Legroom Seat is not eligible for FWC points accrual.
12. Hong Kong Airlines will not be liable for any matter or loss in relation to any error or omission due to technical problems including but not limited to any computer or internet network issues.
