Starting from 27 April 2021:

-           Passengers travelling from lndia and transit passengers who have stayed in lndia for more than 24 hours are required to present a PCR negative result that is obtained within 96 hours from the first port of embarkation.

-           The local health authority will randomly invite arriving passengers to undergo COVID-19 test as part of its surveillance programme.

Starting from 20 April 2021:

-           Visa-on-arrival will be granted for tourists who can present confirmation of hotel room reservation for the entire stay.

-           All passengers are required to complete the online health declaration form within 24 hours before their departure to the Maldives.

-           All passengers (except children aged one or below) are required to hold either a COVID-19 negative test result taken within 96 hours before departure, or COVID-19 vaccination certificate in paper / electronic format showing the completion of prescribed doses at least 14 days before departure.

The following measures are effective from 16 December 2020:

Starting from 4 January 2021, all passengers (regardless of nationals) arriving Maldives who are students enrolled in schools, colleges and universities must observe a mandatory 10 days quarantine period and will be released after a PCR negative result.

Maldivian citizens and persons holding work visa arriving internationally :  

- Must have a PCR negative result that was obtained within 96 hours from the first port of embarkation. Exceptions apply for children below the age of 1.

- If travelling to Greater Malé Area, there is no mandatory home quarantine, but it is recommended to self-isolate at home for 10 days and wear a mask at all times.

- If travelling to other than Greater Malé Area, a mandatory 10 days quarantine period must be observed. Release from quarantine will be upon producing a PCR negative result after quarantine period.

- Those employed in the health sector, education sector or at state managed welfare institutions with shelter facilities must observe a mandatory 10 days quarantine period and will be released after a PCR negative result.

- Maldivians arriving without a PCR negative result, must stay at home quarantine until a PCR negative result is obtained.

Persons travelling to resorts for short period of work(less than 5 days) or as local tourists:

- Must have a PCR negative test result that was obtained no more than 72 hours by the time of departure. Exceptions apply for children below the age of 1.

- Accommodation and food must be arranged separately from the resort staff.

- HPA guidelines must be adhered to at all times.

- Mandatory 10 days quarantine must be observed if travelling to islands other than Greater Malé Area after staying at the resort.

PCR negative result is not required when travelling from Greater Malé area to other inhabited islands for a short duration if this is to provide an essential service. Action will be taken against those not adhering to the guidelines set by HPA.

All Maldivian citizens and visa holders (except for tourists) travelling to Maldives from the UK (stayed in the UK for the least 14 days or have transited for more than 12 hours in the UK) must observe a mandatory 10 days home quarantine. These travellers must take a COVID-19 PCR test after the 5th and 10th day of quarantine. 

Hong Kong Airlines staff will perform document checks at the airport to confirm if passengers are eligible to travel to destinations with restrictions in place. Passengers without checked baggage and holding mobile or self-print boarding passes will be subject to document check before boarding.

Passengers will also be asked to declare their travel history to help us ensure eligibility to travel.
