Wheelchair Service
We can provide wheelchair services for passengers who are with mobility impairment, illness or require special need(s). In order to ensure the service meets your needs, our reservation office or airport staff may ask you some questions to the extent permitted by law to determine the level of assistance you require.

Assistance in moving to and from seats, preparing for eating, and using the in-flight wheelchair to get around the aircraft or lavatory can be provided to passengers who are with mobility impairment. In-flight wheelchair is only available for aircraft types A32S, A32H,A321, A332, A333.
In general, our cabin crew are unable to provide any assistance for personal care needs in-flight such as eating/drinking, administration of medications, elimination functions including assistance inside the lavatory or other personal care needs. Should you require any of these personal care assistance during in-flight, we may require that you travel with an appropriate personal care attendant or make alternative arrangements.
For safety reasons, Hong Kong Airlines may require some passengers to travel with a safety assistant who can provide them with assistance in comprehending and responding appropriately to safety instructions given by our cabin crew and/or assist them to evacuate the aircraft in the event of an emergency.
Passengers are welcome to travel with their own wheelchairs on our flights. For safety reasons, your wheelchairs must be checked-in before boarding. Passengers can decide the wheelchair (other than electronic-powered wheelchairs) to be checked-in at our check-in counters or at the boarding gate whilst electronic-powered wheelchairs must be checked in at check-in counters before entering into the restricted area.
Depending on the airport facility, passengers can use their own wheelchairs until arriving at the boarding gate. Passengers shall then pass their wheelchair to the ground staff at boarding gate before onboard.
We accept all types of battery powered wheelchairs in the cargo compartment (i.e. wheelchairs with dry cell battery, wet cell battery, gel cell battery or non-spillable electric storage batteries). Lithium-ion battery powered wheelchairs or other similar mobility aids can be carried as checked baggage, provided that the battery must be of a type which meets the United Nations (UN) test requirements as specified in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III Section 38.3. Certain safety procedures must be followed in order to comply with international air transport safety regulations.
Pregnant Passengers**
It is generally safe to fly whist pregnant. However, we would advise you to consult your gynecologist of your proposed travel plan and obtain medical guidance before making a reservation. We also recommend that all pregnant passenger carry the required medical certificate whilst travelling.
We will accept passengers with single pregnancies up to 36 weeks (i.e. 35 weeks + 6 days) and with multiple pregnancies up to 32 weeks (i.e. 31 weeks + 6 days).
Passengers who are reaching 36th week of single pregnancies / 32nd week of multiple pregnancies will not be accepted for travelling.
If passengers are reaching 28 weeks (i.e. after 27 week + 6 days), a medical certificate of fitness to fly is required. The medical certificate should clearly state:
- »the pregnancy is a routine pregnancy and progressing normally without complications, and fit for travel;
- »the estimated week of pregnancy;
- »the expected date of delivery;
- »whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy;
The Medical certificate shall be issued within 7 days before the departure date and valid for 14 days from the date of issue.

Please note that for your safety, if you choose not to carry a medical certificate, or if your medical certificate is outdated or it does not contain the information required above, Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to deny boarding.
Travel after delivery:
- »Not recommended women flying within first 7 days after delivery.
- »Infants cannot travel for 7 days after birth. Health certificate is required for premature babies travelling.
Infant Passenger
The infant passenger must be within 7 days and 2 years old throughout the whole journey, it must purchase a child ticket if infant reach 2 years old after their outbound flight ^. Infant ticket is usually calculated from a discount applied to an adult ticket. If the adult ticket fare of the accompanying adult does not offer an infant discount, the next higher fare that offers the discount will be used as the base for calculation. Calculation of infant ticket price is subject to the law of the country applicable to the ticket being issued, and subject to fare rules and conditions. ^Infant is currently not accepted to travel in business class cabin of aircraft type A350.
Child Restraint Seat
Hong Kong Airlines welcome passenger to use own Child Restraint Seat in cabin if have purchased a seat for the infant/child (who age between 6 months and up to 3 years old). Itmust be approved by follow authority or government:

The Child Restraint Seat must be operated with “forward facing” , the width must not exceed 17 inches so that it can be fitted in our cabin seat. The infant/child must be take care and sit next with passenger at the age of 18 years or above. Baby bassinet
Passengers travelling with an infant may request a baby bassinet for use during their flight. Due to a limited number of bassinets being available on each aircraft, these are provided on a first come first served basis. To request a bassinet please contact our Customer Service Center a minimum of 48 hours prior to departure.

Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Service
If children aged of 6 to under 12 who plan to travel without adult. Please apply the Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Service 72 hours prior to flight departure, to ensure proper arrangement. Charges may apply, please contact Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Center or local sales office for more detail.
POSTURAL SUPPORT DEVICE
Hong Kong Airlines accept passenger travelling with the following postural support devices for disabled passenger only.
- Postural support - Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES Harness)
Limitations:
CARES Harness is an additional belt system suitable for disabled children between:
- 2 and 4 years old,
- Weighing between 10-20 kg (22lb - 44lb)
- Height is 100 cm (40”) or less and who can sit upright in their own aircraft seat.
- Postural support - Crelling Harnesses (Model 27)
Limitations:
- Type 27I (2-5 years)
- Type 27A (5-8 years)
- Type 27B (9 years - Adult)
Please take note of the following requirement if travel with a postural support device:
- Passenger who require the use of support device shall contact with Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Centre at least 72 hours of departure time in advance
- Passengers need to bring their own support device and no device will be provided by Hong Kong Airlines.
- Due to safety and compatibility reasons, the use of support devices are restricted to Economy class only and not permitted for use in Business Class.
- Passenger shall still use the aircraft seat belt and it could be used for all phases of flight.
Diabetic passenger carrying needles & Syringes
Bringing Needles &Syringes on board may be subject to the local country's safety and security clearance procedures and it is beyond the control of the airline. Please contact specific country's security and customs agencies you are transitioning through.
Needles & Syringes
Passengers requiring the use of medical syringes or injectable medication for use in-flight must satisfy the following criteria:
- »The syringes and needles should be carried together with the injectable medication or otherwise the medication which is preloaded in the syringe e.g. Epipen;
- »The syringes and medication should be professionally packaged and clearly labeled (by the pharmacy, hospital or the doctor’s office) to identify the passenger’s name OR If the medication is not labeled, the passenger should present a medical certificate or supporting letter from their doctor indicating passenger’s name and the medication;
- »Should present the items at any time for security inspection, such as x-ray check, upon request;
- »Used syringes should be disposed of in the 'sharps box', which is carried onboard all of our flights.
Portable Medical Electronic Devices
Passenger with certain medical condition may require using their own portable medical electronic devices in-flight. You should contact Hong Kong Airlines Customer Service Center or your preferred travel agent at least 48 hours in advance of your flight to let them know any special medical requirements you may have and the detail information of the device.
Passenger who requires the use of Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) needs to provide a Physical Statement which is issued within in 7 days before the departure date of the first flight. Physician needs to specify that the passenger is able to operate the POC appropriately, and the medical reason which whether the passenger requires the use of the POC for all phases of flight. Also, the certificate should also specify if the passenger require the use of POC for all phrases of flight.
When travelling with portable medical electronic devices which operated by lithium batteries, such as Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC), Continuous or Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP or BIPAP), please determine if the device can be accepted as carry-on baggage or checked baggage as following table:

Special Care Arrangement
Passengers who may require special assistance due to health-related problems are required to contact our Reservations Office in advance to request special arrangement.· Passengers with medical conditions are required to obtain medical clearance and informHong Kong Airlines Customer Service Center at the time of booking. They are also required to travel with a companion who is over 18 years old. Airport staff will check the medical clearance form and ensure that all medical clearance requirements are met before accepting the passenger for travel.
