Hong Kong Airlines’ check-in counters debut at Hong Kong International Airport’s Terminal 2
Hong Kong Airlines’ check-in counters at Hong Kong International Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) have officially relocated to the new Terminal 2 (T2) today. From now on, passengers travelling with Hong Kong Airlines may choose to check-in and drop off their baggage at the counters in Aisle Q or the Self-service Check-in Zone at Aisle R of T2. After passing through security screening and immigration clearance, passengers will proceed to the Midfield Concourse at T1 for boarding.
Following the completion of passenger check-in for the final flight departing from T1, Hong Kong Airlines’ ground services team commenced the relocation at 4:00 am and successfully completed it by early morning, enabling passengers on the first flight from T2 to Shanghai Pudong to experience new check-in process.
To mark this significant milestone, management representatives from Hong Kong Airlines and the Airport Authority Hong Kong presided over an inauguration ceremony at the T2 check-in counters and presented commemorative gifts to passengers travelling on the day’s flights.

Mr Bruce Wang, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hong Kong Airlines (sixth left), Mrs Vivian Cheung, CEO, Airport Authority Hong Kong (sixth right), Mr Steven Yiu, Executive Director, Airport Operations, Airport Authority Hong Kong (fifth left), Mr Tony Ma, Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Airlines (fifth right), Mr Jeff Sun, President, Hong Kong Airlines (fourth left), Mr Wing Yeung, Director, Service Delivery, Airport Authority Hong Kong (fourth right), Mr Adrian Cheung, Director, Corporate Affairs, Airport Authority Hong Kong (third left), Mr Louis Li, Executive Vice President, Hong Kong Airlines (third right), Mr Chris Au Young, General Manager, Terminal and Passenger Experience, Airport Authority Hong Kong (second right), Mr Gary Zhan, Vice President, Hong Kong Airlines (first right), Mr Zengrong Lu, Vice President, Hong Kong Airlines (second left) and Mr Chris Zhu, Chief Financial Officer, Hong Kong Airlines (first left)

Refreshed Brand Visual Identity Embodies the Spirit of the City
To mark this significant 20th anniversary, Hong Kong Airlines announced last week the launch of a new brand visual identity system, reflecting the company’s evolution across multiple dimensions, including service quality, route network and corporate positioning. Notably, this marks the first update to the tail livery since the company was founded, the aim is to complete the repainting of four aircraft within this year, with the new design eventually being rolled out across the entire fleet.
The new visual identity system is centred on the design concept of “The Blossom”, drawing inspiration from Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and the Bauhinia flower, which symbolises the city’s spirit. The design blends traditional heritage with modern innovative elements, aiming to showcase Hong Kong’s unique development trajectory, resilient character and rich cultural vitality. Hong Kong Airlines aspires for its own development to mirror the blooming Bauhinia flower, embodying the collective energy and deep-rooted heritage of its team, whilst reflecting the city’s own prosperity, harmony and boundless potential. Through this brand refresh, Hong Kong Airlines will present a more vibrant and culturally resonant image, better aligned with the expectations of today’s travellers.

Hong Kong Airlines will launch a new service between Hong Kong and Lanzhou, Gansu Province, on 26 May. Operating once a week, this direct service will provide immense convenience for travellers and further strengthen connectivity between Hong Kong and the northwest region of the Mainland.
Lanzhou is the only provincial capital in China where the Yellow River flows directly through the city. Beyond serving as the political, economic, and cultural centre of Gansu Province, Lanzhou acts as a crucial bridge connecting the inland areas with the western regions. Historically, it has been a major commercial hub and a vital transport artery along the Silk Road, as well as one of the earliest Chinese cities to embrace modern industrial civilisation.
Lanzhou boasts a magnificent Yellow River scenic corridor, featuring renowned attractions such as the Yellow River Tower, Zhongshan Bridge, White Pagoda Mountain (Baitashan), Lanzhou Stele Forest, and the Yellow River Mother Sculpture. Furthermore, the city is celebrated for its diverse cultural and natural tourism resources, encompassing the Gansu Provincial Museum, Xiguan Mosque, Wuquan Mountain, Lanzhou Shuimo Danxia National Geological Park, Yaou International Building, and Zhangye Road Pedestrian Street. Naturally, visitors must not miss the highly authentic local flavours at the Zhengning Road Snack Night Market and the famous Lanzhou beef noodles. With its captivating charm, the city warmly invites travellers from Hong Kong and around the world to explore its wonders first-hand.
Hong Kong Airlines remains committed to providing passengers with a wider array of travel options. The launch of this new route will deliver a more convenient direct flight experience for both business and leisure travellers, further deepening exchanges between the two destinations. It will not only help attract more Mainland tourists to Hong Kong, but also facilitate their transit through the city to popular travel destinations across Southeast Asia, Australia, and North America, thereby consolidating Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub.
As a key planning area of the ‘Silk Road Economic Belt’, Lanzhou plays a pivotal role as a transport and transit hub for Central Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia, making it a highly promising destination under the Belt and Road Initiative. The new route perfectly aligns with Hong Kong Airlines’ current network strategy and will generate a synergistic effect with existing routes such as Xining and Hulunbuir. It is poised to play a significant role in fostering commercial ties and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and inland cities along the Belt and Road.
